The story deepens when Joe, shaken by the images of death that have been his life, seeks a respite from his work. He meets Lora and they connect, partly because he is somewhat adept with American Sign Language.

Against The Ropes (M): National. UIP. 111mins. Drama. Meg Ryan, Omar Epps, Joe Cortese, Tim Daly, Tony Shalhoub, Kerry Washington, Skye McCole Bartusiak. D: Charles Dutton (TV's The Corner). All About Our House (PG) 115 mins. Japan Cultural Center.

Artemis Fowl (TBA): National. Buena Vista. Family. D: Lawrence Guterman (Cats and Dogs, Antz). Based on the best-selling novel by writer Eoin Colfer, Artemis Fowl is a twelve-year-old boy who hails from a criminal family.  Artemis’ father disappears under mysterious circumstances and Artemis wants to raise funds to finance a search for him.  He hatches an ingenious plan to kidnap a fairy and hold her for ransom in the hope of getting the famous fairy gold.  The underworld will stop at nothing to get the fairy back safely.

Around The World In 80 Days (TBA): National.  Roadshow. Adventure. Jackie Chan, Hugh Grant. D: Frank Coraci (The Waterboy). The 2003 version of the much remade classic tale of world travel and general zaniness.  The design is that Jackie is actually a Chinese man and a Robin-Hood type, yet, you know, to help the poor people etc etc. The movie opens with Jackie robbing the Bank of London and he has to hide out. For a big part of the movie, he's undercover pretending to be French, so a lot of humour is mined out of the fact that Jackie plays a Chinese French man.
